Catch up!!!

I haven't kept up very well this month on the blogging. So I will do a recap of what we have been up to this July. Hopefully I don't get too carried away but if I do that is ok too!

Here are pictures from our 4th of July weekend we went up to the cabin.

Dave on the bike at the cabin

My funny parents. My mom looks so disgusted that my Dad is touching his nose.

Dave at the Oakley Rodeo

One of the calf ropers

My parents making camp fire eclairs

The HUGE moth I killed that was in the garage. Dave wouldn't even go near it.

Nino and Camie at the Oakley Rodeo we went two nights in a row

On July 12th my Grandma Queenie past away. I have been meaning to write a blog about her but for now the obiturary will do.

Monday night the 14th we went to Bees game with the Rogersons.

I have been moved to a new department at work. I am now making full glod crowns. It is very interesting, I am learing as I go cause I know nothing about the anatomy or contour of teeth. I have really enjoyed it so far.

We were cleaning and decided to mess around with Cosmo. He didn't like it to much.

My cousin Krsytyn is home for North Carolina while Brandon is going to Officers School than they will be leaving for Arizona when is done. I am so glad they will be closer. But until then she will be living here which I am glad to see more of her. This is her son, cute little Chase. He is 6 months old and adorable!!

We went and saw The Dark Knight! It was the best movie I have seen all year. Well at least in the top 3! We loved it!! Batman is my favorit action hero. He is so cool to me. He is a guy just trying to do the right thing.

My parents have an apricot tree in their backyard so I told Dave I wanted some to make apricot jam. He ended up doing most of the work cause I had a migrane. We have yet to open one cause we have some jam already open. I am excited to bottle more. I want to learn how do this sort of stuff for our food storage. Next we are bottling salsa!

We went to the international culture thing down town. Lets just say it wasn't what we had expected. So we ate and left. Thurl Bailey isn't my favorite singer any way. It was at least fun to go to see what it was like.

We went to the Bee's game for the 24th with the Rogersons. This photo is from the Bee's game before I forgot my camera. It was a really good game. And the fireworks were awesome!!

I went swimming with Krystyn and Chase at the West Jordan Pool this last Friday. Chase is blocking Krystyn in this photo. It was a lot of fun, he loves the water. It was 105 that day! I got fried! I had put on sun screen but I forgot to put it on my neck and part of my chest and my hip. I hurt, but what can you do.

I think that catches us up! So now it will be easier to stay on top of things.

My Grandmother

Ann McQueen (Lyman) Reeve
Ann Lyman McQueen Reeve 1919 ~ 2008 Ann Lyman McQueen Reeve passed away quietly July 12, 2008 after a gentle, persistent struggle with a leaky heart valve and a blood clot on her lung. She was born March 7, 1919 in Blanding, Utah, daughter of Albert Robinson and Mary Ellen Perkins Lyman, the 11th of 15 children. Circumstances abruptly yanked her from childhood at age nine to be care giver to her ailing mother and older sister, and mother figure to her four younger sisters. She attended school in Blanding and, because of missing three years of school, graduated from West High School in 1940. She served a full time mission in California, a mission in Scotland, where her first husband, James Nelson McQueen died suddenly, a mission in the Family History Library, plus a stake mission. She taught herself to sew, making dresses for her sisters and children. She also made trousers, men's suits and became a professional maker of drapes. She was intrigued with the written word, writing daily in her journal for many years, maintaining a family bulletin board for many years, writing a life sketch of her husband, James, writing articles and writing to each newly baptized member of her ward for years. She taught herself to play the piano, and played for Primary, Relief Society and accompanied her husband. Fresh flowers were secured weekly for the ward for many years. Besides the LDS Church and Heavenly Father, she loved her parents and siblings with a passion, her children unconditionally and her two husbands with sincere, loyal devotion. She also loved the telephone, a broken TV set, a smiling child, a frowning child, a tiny flower, a pun, a large flower, a nice dress, a hymn, vanilla ice cream, a house cat, if's in England or China, a children's song and a toothpick. Ann is survived by her husband, Grant L. Reeve, her children: Jean, Nelson (Connie), Paula (James), Mark (Laurel), Arden (Cindy), Jamie (Kathy), Kerry (Margie), Andrea (Ward), Roebin (Geri), Denice (Richard), Whitney (Monica), Frank (Janell), David (Jeannie), Carol (Randy), Rosanne (Lynn), Mary (John); her sisters: Ellen (Floyd), Edith, Guen (Don); son-in-law, Joseph (Diane); 83 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Nelson McQueen; daughters, Shelli and Becky; 11 siblings; three granddaughters. The family would like to express a special thanks to Harmony Hospice and the West Jordan 27th Ward for their love and care. Funeral services will be held Thurs., July 17, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the West Jordan 27th Ward, 2700 W. 7000 S. A viewing will be held Wed., July 16, 2008, 5:30-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and Thursday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, consider donating to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or the Perpetual Education Fund.

San Francisco!!

So Hollie says its my turn to write on the blog about our trip to San Francisco. Last week Hollie and I got on a plane to head out to the wonderful place of San Francisco! We needed a good vacation cause we didn't go on one for our anniversary because we thought it would be good to wait until it was warm and now it is warm. We also wanted to see my buddy Brett West, who is going to school at Pacific and doing an internship in Oakland. So since we got engaged in San Francisco we decided to go there again. Our plane was delayed almost two hours that night, but at least I had a good hat. We were supposed to leave at 8:55, we didn't take off until 10:30. We arrived in San Francisco at 12:00 midnight. The last subway for Oakland leaves at 11:50pm so we missed it by 10 minutes. Brett had to drive 45 minutes to come get us. We didn't get to his house until almost 2. We were pretty tired. The next morning we woke up and rode BART (the subway) back to San Francisco. Brett had to work so he got off at his stop and we rode on into the city. We got off at Powell street and walked over a giant hill and down to the wharf. It was fun to walk and go through all the little shops. We hadn't eaten breakfast so we could have an early lunch of clam chowder and crab.

We couldn't make it all the way to the wharf without stopping in the little Italian bakery on the side of the road for a delicious raspberry and cream cheese filled twisted ring of deliciousness.

Then we made it to the wharf for some clam chowder in a bread bowl.

This is the view from the place we ate chowder and crab.

These little guys were hanging out on the wharf. They were actually alive and crawling around. At least when we left. They probably became someone's lunch later.

We walked around the shops and stuff and hung out until about 2Brett met us at In-N-Out Burger for lunch. Then we walked to Ghirardelli square for some ice cream. That was some of the best ice cream ever until I spilled my float before I had even taken two bites of ice cream. We decided to go to Golden Gate Park. It was pretty exciting for Hollie, she saw her first drug deal. She felt nervous the rest of the time we were in that area but that park is huge and it got better as we walked on. It was getting close to dinner time so we got back on a bus and rode all the way back downtown and ate at the Stinking Rose. Man, that place is awesome!! The prime rib is to die for.

Saturday we went to Santa Cruz to hit the beach. We went to Capitola Beach. We decided to bury Hollie in the sand.

We didn't have a shovel, so we used my Russian Military-grade Flip Flops.

The flip flops worked.

On the way back, we drove up the Pacific Coast Highway and stopped at a lighthouse. It was pretty cool.

This is Hollie hanging off the Western edge of the country. (Excluding Hawaii or Alaska or any other part of the US that might be further to the West)

The next day we stopped by the Oakland temple. Its a stone's throw away from Brett's house. Then we went into town again.

We had lunch at the "Full House park" aka Alamo Square.

If you look real hard, you can almost see Uncle Jesse in the background.

We also went to the Japanese Tea Gardens

The Gardens were beautiful and I have decided I should put a Japanese Tea Garden in my backyard. Now I just need to get a backyard.

Then we headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge

After that, we were pretty much out of time. Brett dropped us off at a subway station and sent us on our way. We rode the subway out to the airport and when we got there, the conductor said go to the right for international flights and go left to get on the airport tram for "most" domestic flights. So I seemed to remember flying in to the international terminal, so I suggested we go that way, but Hollie was complaining that we were flying domestically so we should get on the tram, so we were almost to the international terminal and turned around and walked back to the tram and rode it all the way around back to the international terminal. For anyone that might fly Jet Blue into SFO, keep in mind that even domestic flights are in the international terminal. I guess that is why the conductor said, "most" domestic flights. :) We made it though and had a pretty normal flight home.

It was great to visit the places we saw when we got engaged and to spend some time with a good friend we don't see often enough. We had a blast and wish we could do it more often.
